10th birthday highlights

The celebrations kicked off with a fantastic book character parade.  Superheroes, wizards, pirates and princesses all made an appearance.  We had lots of fantastic entries for the riddle competition and the class 'I love reading' challenge.

Reading challenge

Are you a fan of the Dairy of a Wimpy Kid books?  Would you like the chance to win a trip to Sydney, Australia to meet the author Jeff Kinney?  If so, the Dairy of a Wimpy Kid Old School "Read-a-thon Challenge" may be of interest to you.

If you think you could read all nine Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and take a quiz about each book as you finish it - before the 16th of October then this could be just the competition for you.  To find out more and to sign up (with parent permission) click here.

Children's choice finalist - Which is your favourite

New Zealand Book Awards for Children & Young Adults 2015

The New Zealand Book Awards for Children's & Young Adults have been revamped for 2015.  This year there are two finalist lists:

• A finalist list chosen by the 3 award judges from which they will choose the winners and ...
• A finalist list chosen by children at Children's Choice judge schools from which NZ school children like you can vote for your favourite book or books.

Keep an eye out for some of these titles in the library soon.
